The co-op program is a group of home school parents who share teaching one day each week. The group consists of CCA families who are interested in providing a school day for their children where they interact with other children. Parents take turns teaching in the classrooms. During a semester, at least one parent from each family must teach on 3-4 different Mondays. Then, they will have their other Mondays off while their children are in Co-op. Co-op is open only to CCA families.
The Co-op directors determine the topics for each week and give the parent teachers guidelines for what to cover in class. The parents must put together their own lesson plans for different subjects based on the days topic. Two teachers are in each classroom each week. Classes are divided by age/grade level beginning with Kindergarten and continuing through eighth grade.
The Co-op day consists of devotions, science, history, physical education, arts and crafts, and lunch. Typically, no math or grammar is taught. There is a fee that is used to cover the cost of the facility and supplies.
A mandatory meeting is held before each semester begins to
inform participants of what is required and to set up the schedule
of teaching. Forms for enrolling for each semester must be filled
out before this meeting.
