Sharp Arrows is a part of the Covenant Christian Academy home school program specially designed for parents and their children ages
4-6. Sharp Arrows is designed to prepare parents of preschoolers to home school their children with CCA once they are old enough
to enroll. The Sharp Arrows program offers support and resources to parents who are interested in home schooling and want to know
more. The Sharp Arrows program is directed by experienced home school mothers who have a desire to help other families home school their
children. The directors plan field trips, set up speakers and activities for the parents, and orient new families to the program.
Goals:
The program begins in the month of August with a mother's brunch. Topics for parent
meetings include some of the following: Math games for preschoolers; Teaching art of music to young children; Learning to use the
library; Recognizing special needs or learning disabilities in young children; Panel discussion with veteran homeschool parents.
A variety of field trips and special activites are also offered during the school year. Some past activites include the Nashville Zoo, the Huntsville Internaltional Airport, the Weather office, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Tate Farms, The Botanical Gardens, Sci-Quest, Christmas partyies, Book-It book report days, play days, etc. Services:
Enrollment:
Those interested in Sharp Arrows membership should contact the CCA office to be placed on the
list. A family form should be filled out and returned with your check for $100 made out to Covenant Christian Academy.
A pastor's questionnaire should be given to the family's pastor to be filled out and returned directly to the school. Membership
will begin when all of the above paperwork is complete and the enrollment fee has been paid. The fee is used to pay for orientation
packets, salaries, handouts, postage, parties, seminar speakers, etc. Membership is good for one year from the date on which
your enrollment check is received. Sharp Arrows is not a legal covering for home-schooling; it is only a support group for families
of students who are under the legal age requirement for public school.
Requirements for Enrolling:
Both parents must be Christians. Both parents should be faithful, active members in a local Christian church, which has the Bible as its basic textbook for life. Parents must fill out a family form with pertinent information about the family. A pastor's questionnaire must be completed by your pastor. Each family pays a $100 enrollment fee per year. |
